Is The Middle Eastern Prince that Rich?

I was amazed when I first read an email about a (0.999 pure) silver Audi A8 owned by a certain Middle Eastern sheikh.
And on my quest for truth did I realize that the Audi in picture wasn’t made of pure silver, rather - display of a special polishing technique for chrome like finish.
A German firm Motoren Technik Mayer describes about this customization on their website (Google it).

Lately, I came across another such email about Prince Al Waleed from Saudi Arabia owning a diamond covered Mercedes Benz (SL 600) costing $4.8 millions. The mail further read that you had to pay a whooping $1000 to touch it.

I always knew (as I lived there for almost a decade) the sheikhs in the Middle East had an extravagant lifestyle – however diamond covered Benz!?!
To start with, I wasn’t quite sure if the cost was appropriate, as to cover a whole Benz with diamonds should cost way more than just $4.8 million.

My doubts were confirmed when I read the DUB magazine’s custom auto show and Concert, which depicts a crystal encrusted (Swarovski) Mercedes Benz SL 600 costing $1 Million.

Moral of the story: Not all you read on the net are true :)

The car would be on exhibition during the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show in November!
